Our Mission

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of San Antonio promotes the GSP breed through responsible breeding, education, and community support. We provide resources on breed care, training, and health while fostering activities like hunting, agility, and performance events. Committed to rescue efforts, we collaborate to rehome GSPs in need. While focused on GSPs, we also welcome and support other versatile gun dog breeds through training and associate memberships.

Our Goals

The German Shorthaired Pointer Club of San Antonio (GSPCSA) is dedicated to promoting the well-being, versatility, and excellence of the German Shorthaired Pointer (GSP) breed. Our mission is achieved through the following goals:

  1. Training, Handling, and Competitions

    • Skill Development: Offer diverse training sessions and workshops to enhance members' handling abilities.

    • Showcasing Versatility: Organize field trials, obedience, agility competitions, and other activities highlighting the breed’s multifaceted capabilities. This will allow handlers to refine their techniques and demonstrate their dogs' talents.

  2. Community Building and Education

    • Supportive Environment: Foster a welcoming community where GSP owners and enthusiasts can share experiences, knowledge, and support.

    • Educational Initiatives: Provide resources, seminars, and materials to educate members and the public about the characteristics, needs, and suitability of GSPs as pets and working dogs.

  3. Responsible Breeding and Health

    • Ethical Breeding Practices: Promote and uphold responsible breeding standards to ensure the health, quality, and integrity of GSPs.

    • Health and Wellness: Provide comprehensive nutrition, exercise, and healthcare information. Collaborate with veterinarians and specialists to offer health screenings and expert advice, ensuring the optimal well-being of our dogs.
